There is only one reason why keyword phrases would be negative keywords.
All other keyword phrases are positive, but maybe more positive to one website than maybe another website.
The only reason you get negative keywords is because you are using a keyword phrase that is never being searched for.
Seriously, why base a web page on a keyword phrase unless you know that web surfers are searching for it.
Do you think that I was sat down one day and thought, I know I will build a web page based on the keyword phrase of “negative keywords” OR…………..
………….do you think that I got a keyword report from WordTracker that told me what keywords were being searched for on a regular basis.
Just because you may use keywords that are being searched for does not mean that you will rank high in search engines for that phrase.
Example
Take two websites based on the same theme, one is 3 years old with 1000 incoming links, one is new with 2 incoming links.
They both base a web page on the same keyword phrase, now depending on the competition for this keyword phrase the new site may not be no where near the top of the search engines.
The established website has many incoming links, this pushes it up the search engines for that keyword phrase.
More established sites have an advantage over new sites and this is why new sites should use profitable long tail keywords until their link popularity becomes substantial.
