Dreamweaver (£370)
Dreamweaver is the top of the range web design software, its what the experts use. Vast range of tools are available and is a difficult learning curve. Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 (PC)

Komposer (free)
If Dreamweaver was a Ferrari then Komposer is a Ford.  It does the same job but without the vast range of tools. Good place to start, still a learning curve though. Komposer

Free Templates (free)
You will need one of the above programs to use free templates. This will save some hair ripping moments as they are already designed. You still need experience with this software to adjust and change these templates.

The downfall is you normally always need to leave a link from the bottom of each web page you build to the creater of the template, this helps their search engine optimization but not yours.

DreamTemplates (£30 to £60)
Dream templates supplies proffesional templates for a yearly subscription.

You can download as many as you like and use up to 50 templates at once for you or clients.

You can’t claim you designed the templates but the bonus is you don’t have to leave a link back on the templates you use. DreamTemplate

Site Build It
Site build it is a do it yourself website all in one program. They have templates, instructions and includes hosting. It teaches you all the fundamentals to correctly build a website to rank high in search engines. Site Build It

You need traffic software intergrated into your website.

You need to know where your web pages are ranked, what pages attract visitors, what web page visitors enter and leave your website, who sent them, breakdown of visitors, visits and page views on a daily basis.

Knowing what keywords people typed into search engines to find your website will provide additional keywords that you can use.

Keyword Tools

You need a keyword tool, without one you will never succeed. They provide a list of profitable keywords, used correctly throughout your website can achieve top 10 rankings in search engine result pages.

Meta Tag Generator

If you do not know how to use meta tags correctly then find out before you start building your website. I have covered meta tags in the seo keywords section. 

Keyword Placement and Density Checker

You need to learn where and how many keywords should be placed within your web pages. Getting this incorrect will result in bad search engine rankings. See seo copy writing.

Search Engine Optimization Knowledge

This is a big must, when you have built a website based on a paticular theme, people that visit will or may opt in for a regular newsletter you supply or you may have set up an e-mail course or they may enter their e-mail address for a free e-book you have written.
