What are the advantages of niche marketing online.

I am going to get straight to the point, if you do not choose a niche, then building a website that you want to become popular is going to be more difficult.

It’s simple mathematics, over 100 million websites, billions of web pages in which you have to compete with.

I am not talking about inventing a new gadget that no one has thought of and market it, just choose something that is not so popular or aim at a section of a large market.

Take the word “holidays” for example, creating a website about holidays is going to make life difficult. Basing a website on “holidays in Antigua” will be much easier or basing a website on holidays on some unheard of island will yet become even easier.

There are two ways to look at this, most people will think that you are just cancelling out the competition and specialising in one area. This is true but ………

To survive online you need visitors, targeted visitors and lots of them.

Plus when it is free traffic from the search engines (no need to advertise) you are on to a winner.

Choosing a section of a larger market as your niche

We all know a "seo" theme for a website is not a niche and the competition is huge.

With 250 million web pages to compete with it would be unwise to target that keyword. I just stole some of the market. I do not need the millions of people that search for the term “seo” to survive online.
